Known as the birthplace of Sake in Japan, Mount Miwa in Nara Prefecture has been home to Imanishi Brewery since 1660, however it is also said that brewing has taken place for over 900 years there. Not only is Mount Miwa thought to be the birthplace of sake in Japan, it is also thought to have been bestowed with the art of sake brewing by god.

The word Mimuro means “the source of Sake” from which the brand receives its name Mimurosugi.  The water used for brewing, sacred deep well water springing directly from Mount Miwa uninterrupted for over 360 years, is thought of as a spiritual water source with healing properties.
